Offender ID Search Tips

Offender Number:

A unique 7 digit number assigned to an offender. This number must be numeric. You do not have to enter leading zeroes. For example, if the offender you are searching for has Offender Number 0000133, you only need to enter 133. The system will provide any leading zeroes necessary to complete the search successfully. If you know this number, use it to perform your search.

Docket Number

Cannot be greater than 10 digits. Do not enter any special characters (such as '-') or embedded spaces. If you know the county code (such as 92 for Wake county) enter the full 10 digit docket number (example 9298123456). If you do not know the county code, enter the 8 digit docket number (example 98123456). The search may return more than one result if you do not use the county code.

Jail Transportation Number

A temporary number assigned to an inmate before the inmate is transported from the county jail to a state prison facility. The jail transportation number must begin with a 'T' and be followed by six numbers. Jail transportation numbers are not assigned to probationers.

State Identification Number

Must be entered in exactly the same format as it is stored on the Department of Adult Correction database. Many offenders do not have a SID number on file.

Driver's License Number

May also be used for a search. Different states follow different formats for driver's license numbers and the driver's license numbers are not stored in a standard format on the database, therefore making it difficult sometimes to find an offender using the driver's license number. Not all offenders have a driver's license number on file.
